Exercising With Exercising Bands
Health & Fitness September 23rd. 2009, 10:13amDo you know what a squat is? How about a chess press? Chances are when you recall these fitness terms you immediately think of a sweaty gym. Do you envision beefy guys lying on benches lifting a barbell stacked with large weighted disks, grunting out loud with every painful lift? Or do you think of that same beefy guy with a barbell over his back, a weight lifting belt tight around his waist and here it comes – squatting and grunting? Well, did you know you could do squats and chest press exercises in the comfort of your own home with resistance bands?
To begin your squat exercise, start by simply stepping on the band with both feet. Make sure you step in the center of the band and keep your shoulders wide apart. Hold the band with both hands at shoulder level with your elbows out. Keep the band at shoulder height and go into your squat, then return to your upright position. Repeat until you can’t do any more.
To begin your chest presses, start by placing the band across your back while in a lying position on the floor. With each hand keep a grip on the ends of the band or handles. Press one arm upward toward the ceiling and repeat with the other arm. If you are using a band with heavy resistance you may want to do this exercise raising both arms toward the ceiling at the same time.
Versatile exercising bands are inexpensive and require no grunting at all.
