When selecting your Satsuki Azalea, one of the things you want to consider is the pot. The pot of a bonsai is more than just a container to hold the plant. It is a very important part of the overall visual form. You should plant your bonsai in the midline part of the pot, slightly to the left or right of the center line. You want to select a pot that accents the bonsai’s color. In this case, something that will accent the red flowers that the Satsuki Azalea grows.

You see it can be challenging to add something to your garden that makes much of a difference at night, but garden lights will do the trick. I love entertaining around my patio and the changing colors add a sense of “party” to even a simple meal with a few friends. One night, just for a change I put the lights into one of my container gardens that sit close to the patio. It was a great way to show off one of the smaller outdoor bonsai trees I acquired last year. My friends didn’t believe that it should be left outdoors but my flowering crabapple came through the winter with flying colors and it was fun to show it off because without the lights they wouldn’t have noticed all the blossoms in the dark.
