A Classic 3 Quart Whistling Tea Kettle

I have been trying to decide what to give my aunt for a housewarming gift. She’s downsizing and moving out of her big family house up North into a nice 2 bedroom patio home in the South.  She’s been doing a lot of work going through all of her belongings and deciding what stays and what goes. It’s a lot of work but I can tell she’s really looking forward to the change – especially to living in a warmer climate and having a more manageable house to live in.  When I was helping her pack up some of her kitchen items recently I noticed that her tea kettle was looking worn and had a chip in the handle. So I think I’ll be buying her this Classic 3 Quart Whistling Tea Kettle for her new kitchen. Read more »

Why Are Professional Casino Poker Chips Best?

The more popular poker becomes, the easier it is to find poker chips. But, what chips are best? Why do you want clay or clay like chips? Any store these days carries cheap plastic chips. However, these chips aren’t well made and are hard to play with. Plastic chips have no weight. They spill easily and get knocked over by a strong wind. They also don’t have the amount printed on them, so guests can easily confuse how much they are betting. With coin inlaid chips, you won’t have that problem. Read more »

A Sweet-Faced Manatee Pendant to Wear

If you’ve ever been to Florida, chances are you went to see the manatees. Well, that is if you were there at the right time of year. And wouldn’t you know it; this particular artist lives in Florida. Figures, eh? Read more »

The cheese ball may seem a bit retro, but I have found it to be a simple but tasty and elegant appetizer that’s perfect for the holidays since it can be made well in advance. Make Italian-Style Sandwiches in the DeLonghi Panini Grill

We eat a lot of sandwiches in our home for lunch and sometimes even for dinner. One of our children always wants cinnamon raisin bread, another wants plain white bread, and another always wants wraps. So we eat a lot of turkey, ham, Swiss and American cheese, the usual sandwich meats and cheeses. But after awhile sandwiches can seem a little boring.  Then recently we went out to eat and had Panini sandwiches filled with herbed chicken, melted mozzarella, tomato, and crispy grilled bread – they were delicious. My neighbor mentioned that she owned a Panini grill and that she used it quite a lot, but we could borrow it and try it out. We used it that same weekend and it worked like a charm, so I decided to buy the same DeLonghi Panini Grill for our family. Read more »

Lucky Horse Shoe Charms

I don’t know where the idea of a horse shoe bringing good luck came from, but this creative horse shoe charm is a one of a kind version; so pretty I wouldn’t be surprised if it brought whoever wore it a little luck. For one thing, the horse shoe shape is designed on a heart. If that isn’t perfect for a horse lover, then I don’t know what is. I’ve always had a soft spot for heart shaped jewelry, and being an animal lover, it seems so perfect. How many equestrians have you known who didn’t adore their horses? Read more »

How I lost 5 lbs before my wedding?

Like most grooms, on my wedding day I wanted to look my best. My wedding was scheduled for Valentines Day of this year, so I only had ten weeks to get rid of that holiday fat that comes along with all of the traditional Yule tide deliciousness. I needed to think fast, but because of the long hours I work it is difficult to get to the gym on a daily basis. I decided to think small. Every morning I would usually stop for a coffee on my way to work. I cut this out completely and switched to a cup of tea with no sugar. Also, I made a point of it to eat a bowl of oatmeal each morning for breakfast.

I can’t be quite sure if it was my minor diet change or the tradition pre-wedding jitters, but I dropped 10 lbs in the weeks before the wedding. It was tough to be all that unhealthy with the constant running around close to the wedding day. I think everyone involved lost a few lbs those last couple days. Luckily for my tailor the lbs have decided to come back with interest.
